Hello, I’m Merivale.

I have worked as a midwife and childbirth educator across Australia, for over twenty years - supporting families at home, and in private and public hospitals. In recent years I have also been teaching the next generation of midwives at Victoria University in Melbourne.

I became a midwife after receiving incredible care from midwives in 1997 …and again in 1999, 2002 and 2005.

In 2021 I started a PhD with Western Sydney University, focussing on the politics of waterbirth. I live in Torquay with my partner, two youngest offspring (and Buddy and Alfie, the rescue dogs).

I’ve always been passionate about providing families with the right support and information, so that they can make informed decisions. I’ve found that providing continuous midwifery care - getting to know the family and what’s important to them - leads to the best and most satisfying outcomes. Establishing Surfcoast Midwifery in 2021 is an extension of this knowledge.

Midwifery is an adventure, and I feel privileged that families choose to share their journey with me.
